A 4 day adventure filled canoe safari paddling on the mighty Lower Zambezi where you will experience close encounters with some of Africa’s magnificent animals, including hippo and elephant to name a few! Day 1  | Arrival in Lower Zambezi National Park

Lusaka - Royal Airstrip

After arriving at Lusaka Airport, you will need to connect with a charter flight to Royal Airstrip (not included in this package but can be added). Here you will be met by your guides from Chiawa Camp who will drive you down to the Zambezi River to start your canoe safari for the day. You will overnight at Chiawa Camp, a beautiful, restful retreat 14 km’s away.

Day 1 - 2 | Royal Airstrip - Chiawa Camp

Chiawa Camp, Lower Zambezi

After arriving at Royal Airstrip, the Chiawa safari guides will meet you and drive you to the start of your canoe adventure on the banks of the Lower Zambezi. Your luggage will be taken to Chiawa Camp, while you enjoy a gentle paddle downriver toward Chiawa Camp, 14 km’s away. Chiawa Camp, set in the Lower Zambezi National Park blends in effortlessly with its idyllic surroundings, and provides a retreat wherein you are invited to make your home away from home. Upon arrival at camp, enjoy an evening game drive and dinner and drinks before retiring to enjoy your Chiawa accommodation.

Day 2 - 3 | Chiawa Camp - Potato Bush Camp

Potato Bush Camp, Lower Zambezi

On day 2 of your adventure, following a morning safari walk with the Chiawa guides and breakfast, you will set off on your canoe safari towards Potato Bush Camp, a mere 7 km’s down river whilst your luggage is driven around. Watch out for the resident hippos who inhabit the river on the way and see if you can spot elephant wading through the knee high water, a short distance away. Drifting in near silence past birds, crocodiles and a variety of mammals makes for an amazing experience of a lifetime! Of course, this is the Zambezi River at its most natural and authentic and very few travellers get to experience Africa in it’s raw form like this. Upon arrival at Potato Bush, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive and the evening in the magical Potato Bush Camp. Your story of the Zambezi will be an unrivalled one...

Day 3 - 4 | Potato Bush Camp - Old Mondoro Camp

Old Mondoro Camp, Lower Zambezi

Following a safari walks and breakfast from Potato Bush, your 3rd and final day on the river takes you to Old Mondoro Camp, 24 km downstream whilst your luggage is again driven around. The opportunity for game viewing from the canoe is magical and gives one a sense of it being just you with nature, sharing the open spaces respectfully. This kind of day, means gathering memories and storing them in the memory bank for further sharing, colouring and telling, to make your life richer and your story unique. At Old Mondoro, you simply can’t beat the symphony of animal sounds that serenade you throughout the your stay as you hear the roar of the lions bellowing from Zimbabwe to Zambia across the mighty Zambezi.

Day 4 | Old Mondoro Camp - Jeki Airstrip - Lusaka

Departure Day

After a good night's sleep, a morning game drive or bush walk and a full breakfast, your guides from Old Mondoro will transfer you back to Jeki Airstrip to catch your charter flight back to Lusaka Airport where you will depart for home.
