"Brilliant fishing, guiding and hosting within a wilderness experience." - Geoff McIver, August 2016

Brief Safari Overview

A 5 night safari combining two different camps on two different parts of the Zambezi

Dates: July, August, September, November   |   Group size: 6 -10 anglers

Day 1: Livingstone airport - mutemwa lodge

Arrival at Mutemwa Lodge

The Upper Zambezi River, where Mutemwa Lodge is located is wide and very beautiful. Mutemwa has almost exclusive access to about 30 - 60km of this piece of the Upper Zambezi and the water is varied with islands, rapids and deep drop offs. This part of the river is known for fantastic birding and great tiger fishing with a wonderful variety of fish species on offer. Upon arrival at Mutemwa Lodge, you will have a chance to unpack and settle into your tents before joining the guides for a short fishing session on the Upper Zambezi

Day 2 - 5: Sioma Falls

3 nights in Sioma Falls

Sioma Falls is 70kms upriver from Mutemwa Lodge and is the second largest waterfall on the Zambezi river. Here, the Zambezi is narrow and has deep fast flowing water, with cascading rapids and lots of black volcanic rock. The fishing at Sioma Falls is excellent and you stand a good chance of catching a big tiger. The camp overlooks an expanse of “coral white” beach and the basalt black cliffs which harness the mighty Zambezi River.

Your day of fishing to the Sioma Falls starts this morning. Fishing the deep channels and rapids all the way from Mutemwa Lodge, through the Top and Kaale Rapids to a beach below the Sioma Falls. There are some very deep channels and some excellent runs to fish for the large and aggressive tigerfish that lurk in these waters. Packed lunches and coolboxes are supplied.

day 6: sioma falls - mutemwa lodge

Final day and departure

This morning after breakfast, you will head out with the boats again for the fishing journey downstream back to Mutemwa Lodge from the Sioma Falls.

Fish those great spots that hit on the way up and then arrive in the late afternoon, where you will have a chance to shower and freshen up at the lodge before enjoying your last evening on the Mutemwa deck and boma.
